"What will you not move?"

It's true, there are certain items out there that can not be moved, especially over a long distance. It's important to know this list prior to packing.

Hazardous Materials: A good rule to follow is if you can't ship it, your movers probably can't either. Items like paint, paint thinner, fire extinguishers, and aerosol cans are all considered hazardous.

Flammable Items and Corrosives: Just like hazardous materials these may seem like obvious items that can't be packed. Either way, movers are not able to transport items like charcoal, lighter fluid, kerosene, nitric acid, and batteries with acid. We recommend using up as much as you can prior to the move and discarding the rest.

Plants: If it's a long distance move, movers can not transfer plants. This may seem like a weird one but it is illegal to transport plants more than 150 miles without a special license. This is due to the possibility of pests staying on the plant and then being introduced to a new area.

Perishable Food: It's best to eat or donate any leftover food. Frozen or half opened food does not transfer well.

Tip: Empty your refrigerators/freezers and keep appliance doors open for at least 24 hours before the scheduled move to prevent the growth of mold.

Pets: Another one that may seem obvious, your pets should stay with you during the move whether in the car or on the plane.

Power Equipment with Fuel: Movers are able to transfer power equipment as long as it does not have fuel leftover. The list includes lawn mowers, motorcycles, weed eaters, and so on. You will have to drain or run the fuel to empty at least 24 hours before it is loaded up in the van.

Sentimental Items: Ballew Moving encourages you to keep certain personal items with you during the transportation. These would fall under the category of items you can not live without or that can't be replaced: car titles, insurance policies, laptops, passports, and other personal documents.

Special items we may move you ask? Certain moving companies will decline moving items such as pool tables or grand pianos. Ballew Moving can move these items and more!
